Edward was born at 7.45am on Tuesday, 13 June 1899 at 97 Albert Buildings, Earnock, Hamilton, Lanarkshire. His father registered his birth on 19 June 1899. The Registrar was James Frame.
Edward enlisted in the Army in the First World War. He signed up on 26 June 1918, aged 19 years and 13 days. He requests to join the Cavalry. Edward is assigned to the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles as Private 54264). The paperwork records him as a Miner, aged 19 years and 3 days, living at 63 Beckford Street, Hamilton. The form is badly damaged.

Edward married Janet Prentice on 26 April 1919, at 435 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, by declaration issued by Warrant of Sheriff Substitute of Lanarkshire, in the presence of Jeannie Paton, Railway Goods Checker and William Fotheringham Findlay, Rivetter. Edward was aged 19, a coal miner of 63 Beckford Street, Hamilton, Lanarkshire. Janet was aged 21, of 9 George Street, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, the daughter of Andrew, a Telephone Linesman, and Jane(t) Prentice (nee Watson). The Registrar was James Stirling.
Janet’s parents, Andrew Prentice and Jane Watson, were both born in Stirling.
Andrew was born in Stirling on 14 December 1867, the son of James and Janet Prentice (nee McGregor) both of whom were born in Stirling, and who married there on 6 July 1866.

James was baptised in Stirling, on 12 March 1839, the son of James and Margaret Prentice (nee Dalgleish) who married in Stirling on 22 February 1822. Margaret Dalgleish was born in Stirling on 29 September 1804, the daughter of George and Janet Dalgleish (nee Christie) who married in Stirling on 3 October 1802. Margaret Prentice (nee Dalgleish) died in Stirling in 1873, aged 68. She had been a widow for at least 25 years.

Janet McGregor was born in Polmont, Stirling, on 16 June 1844, the daughter of James and Isabella McGregor (nee Walker) who married in Polmont on 14 September 1832.
Jane Watson was born in Polmont, Stirling, about 1867, the daughter of Matthew and Mary Watson (nee McLay), both of whom were born in Muiravonside, Stirling.
Matthew was born on 8 October 1827, the son of Robert and Mary Watson (nee Baxter), who married in Polmont in 1819. Mary Baxter was born on 6 January 1798, the daughter of Henry and Mary (nee Gray).
Matthew married Mary McLay on 6 September 1845. He was a Coal Miner and he died in 1879, aged 50. Mary Watson (nee McLay) died in Slamannan, Stirling, in 1907, aged 76.
Andrew Prentice and Janet Watson married in Kinning Park, Glasgow, in 1891. Andrew died in Hamilton, Lanarkshire in 1937, aged 69. Janet died in Hamilton, in 1940, aged 70.

Dennis Deporter. He married Vone Evans.
They have a son, Kylen Deporter born 1990.

Douglas Deporter. A very successful dentist and now a professor at the University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Pattie Jane Deporter. Pattie born 1 July 1954 and died in 1962, aged 8 years.

Alfred died on the 20th January 2003. Jeanie died in Leamington, Ontario, on 16 April 2009.
Hugh Heaney born at 1.45am on 8 April 1923, at 16 Portland Square, Hamilton, Lanarkshire. His father Edward, a Coal Miner, registered the birth on 9 April 1923. The Registrar was Gavin Frame.
Hugh married Edith Evans and they had a daughter, Maureen Heaney (see below)

Isabella Prentice Heaney, born and died in Hamilton in 1927.
Edward and Janet emigrated to Leminton, Ontario, Canada. Edward sailed to Quebec from Greenock in 1927.
Janet (30) joined him the following year, sailing on the “Regina”, leaving Greenock on 6 October 1928 and arriving in Quebec on 13 October 1928, together with Jeanie (8) and Hugh (5).

Edward began a long career in the bank when he arrived in Canada
Edward and Janet made at least one visit to Scotland. They sailed on the “Franconia” from Quebec to Liverpool, arriving on 30 November 1952. They are recorded as travelling to 12 McGhie Street, Hamilton, and both were permanent residents of Canada. Edward was recorded as employed as a
Bank Messenger, aged 63 (he was 53) and Janet as aged 54.
Edward made a visit to Scotland in 1957. This was the time his sister, Mary Telford, formerly Strachan (nee Heaney) was terminally ill. He left Scotland from Prestwick on a KLM flight to New York on 29 June 1957.

Edward died in Ontario in 1974.
Janet (nee Prentice) died in 1995 aged 97
