Ann was born in Lanarkshire on Tuesday, 2 November 1762, the twin of Janet.  The Old Parish Records for Glasgow record the baptism on Friday, 10 December 1762, of the two daughters of John and Margaret Cunningham (nee Couper) both born on 2 November 1762, and named Ann and Janet.  John is recorded as a Workman.  The witnesses were John Duncan, a Smith, and Peter Ralston, a Glover.

It's likely that Thomas and Ann had quite a few children and that some were simply not recorded. Hopefully as time marches on we will discover more and be able to expand on their story.

A hedger, named Alexander Harris, aged 22, since Friday last had been in a depressed state mind. did not go to work as usual Saturday and yesterday, but his condition does not appear to have caused his friends any anxiety, and yesterday forenoon his sister went out, leaving him in the house alone. On her return she found her brother lying on the floor dead, with a rifle by his side. Deceased was a member of the 16th L.R.V., and it would seem that in his sister's absence he had, after deliberately placing the rifle in an oblique position, rested the back of his head against the muzzle and drawn the trigger with the large toe of liis left foot.
